The Pagosa Lakes Property Owners Association was created in
1970 by Navajo Trail Corporation, an early developer of what
has since become the community of Pagosa Lakes. The
Association is the master association for owners of lots,
condominiums and timeshares in all subdivisions except Alpha
and Meadows 1.
Pagosa Lakes is located in the San Juan Mountain Range in
the Southern Rocky Mountains of Colorado and consists of approximately
14,000 acres (twenty one square miles) of scenic rolling terrain.
This planned community in Archuleta County, west
of the Town of Pagosa Springs, consists of 26 separate
subdivisions plus numerous condominium and timeshare properties.
If incorporated, Pagosa Lakes would be the third largest community
in southwestern Colorado.
The area has experienced significant growth over the past
few years, many people have moved to the area to live in a
small community that offers so much of the outdoors, clean
mountain air and the spectacular views of the Rocky Mountains,
Continental Divide and the San Juan Range.
Pagosa Lakes has fire protection is provided by the Pagosa
Fire Protection District and medical services are provided
by the Upper San Juan Medical District. Law enforcement
is provided by the Archuleta County Sheriff's Department.Five
man made lakes form the core of Pagosa Lakes, they are: Lake
Hatcher, Lake Pagosa, Village Lake, Lake Forest and Vista
Lake. Property owners and guests fish for trout, bass
and perch. A twenty seven hole golf course meanders
through the lower lakes area. Trails are now being implemented
throughout the Pagosa Lakes area to provide walking, hiking
and jogging paths.The Village Center, at the south end of
Pagosa Lakes, forms the core area for shopping with a supermarket,
gas stations, fast food and fine dining restaurants, veterinary
services, bookstore, liquor store and gift shops. Other
commercial development is underway for offices and service
businesses.
No other area in Colorado offers the amenities of Pagosa Lakes.
Fishing, hiking, rafting, skiing, hunting, boating on Navajo
Reservoir, mountain climbing, golfing, horseback riding, shopping,
kayaking, snow mobiling, flying, hot air balloon rides or just
looking at the beautiful scenery. Pagosa Lakes is convenient
to many other interesting areas such as: Taos (2 hours), Santa
Fe (3 hours), Albuquerque (4 hours), Phoenix and Scottsdale
(8 hours), Durango (1 hour), Mesa Verde (2 hours), Denver (5
hours) and many other areas within a day's drive.
