About Pagosa Lakes

Hot Air Balloons
The Pagosa Lakes Property Owners Association was created in 1970 by Navajo Trail Corporation, an early developer of what has since become the community of Pagosa Lakes.  The Association is the master association for owners of lots, condominiums and timeshares in all subdivisions except Alpha and Meadows 1.

Pagosa Lakes is located in the San Juan Mountain Range in the Southern Rocky Mountains of Colorado and consists of approximately 14,000 acres (twenty one square miles) of scenic rolling terrain.  This planned community in Archuleta County, west of the Town of Pagosa Springs, consists of 26 separate subdivisions plus numerous condominium and timeshare properties.  If incorporated, Pagosa Lakes would be the third largest community in southwestern Colorado.

The area has experienced significant growth over the past few years, many people have moved to the area to live in a small community that offers so much of the outdoors, clean mountain air and the spectacular views of the Rocky Mountains, Continental Divide and the San Juan Range.

Pagosa Lakes has fire protection is provided by the Pagosa Fire Protection District and medical services are provided by the Upper San Juan Medical District.  Law enforcement is provided by the Archuleta County Sheriff's Department.Five man made lakes form the core of Pagosa Lakes, they are: Lake Hatcher, Lake Pagosa, Village Lake, Lake Forest and Vista Lake.  Property owners and guests fish for trout, bass and perch.  A twenty seven hole golf course meanders through the lower lakes area.  Trails are now being implemented throughout the Pagosa Lakes area to provide walking, hiking and jogging paths. The Village Center, at the south end of Pagosa Lakes, forms the core area for shopping with a supermarket, gas stations, fast food and fine dining restaurants, veterinary services, bookstore, liquor store and gift shops. Other commercial development is underway for offices and service businesses.

No other area in Colorado offers the amenities of Pagosa Lakes.  Fishing, hiking, rafting, skiing, hunting, boating on Navajo Reservoir, mountain climbing, golfing, horseback riding, shopping, kayaking, snow mobiling, flying, hot air balloon rides or just looking at the beautiful scenery.  Pagosa Lakes is convenient to many other interesting areas such as: Taos (2 hours), Santa Fe (3 hours), Albuquerque (4 hours), Phoenix and Scottsdale (8 hours), Durango (1 hour), Mesa Verde (2 hours), Denver (5 hours) and many other areas within a day's drive.
